National Convention
The National Convention of the Socialist Party has final authority in all matters of principles, policies, constitution, and national platform. The convention consists of gender-balanced delegates from Party states and locals as well as at-large regions. The National Convention elects a gender-balanced National Committee.
National Committee
The National Committee is elected by the Socialist Party's biennial Convention to carry out the Party's affairs between conventions. It is the governing body of the Socialist Party USA and the Social National Committee election fund.

Next National Committee Meeting : (Pre-Convention) October 25, 2013 - New York City, NY
The National Committee elects the National Secretary, National Treasurer, Campaign Clearinghouse Coordinator, International Secretary and Editor of the Party's magazine. It drafts and administers the national budget, coordinates activities and passes official statements.

National Action Committee
The National Action Committee (NAC) is a body elected to make decisions between National Committee Meetings. The NAC is composed of the constitutionally mandated National Secretary, National Treasurer, Editor as well members appointed by the National Committee. These appointed members are currently the Chairs, Vice-Chairs and two (i.e. non-alternate) National Committee members. Those two NC members change every NC meeting.

State and Local Organizations
State and Local organizations are chartered groupings of Socialist Party USA members. Each organization must maintain an executive committee and operate under the SP USA constitution. Our organizations are our representatives in their areas and an important party of our national work.

Commissions
The Party's work is not only done on the state and local level, it is also done within various social movements. For this work, the Party's National Committee established Commissions. All members in good standing are encouraged to get involved in Commission work.

Unofficial/Unchartered Groupings
The Socialist Party USA is a multi-tendency organization which encourages discussion and debate amongst our members. We encourage all members to bring their ideas to their affiliates (local and state), commissions, committees and regional groups and take part in the decision making process. Members are also invited to attend National Committee meetings, conferences and conventions where they can bring up concerns or ideas. Click here for a listing of unchartered/unofficial groupings
