A number of L.A. Local members, in addition to a few non-members, met on August 3rd in Los Angeles for the first L.A. Local Member Orientation. After a round of introductions, which proved to be as informative and inspiring as the orientation, the group interactively discussed the Party Statement of Principles and Platform, along with a few brief conversations about the Party's history and structure. Each person in attendance read a paragraph from the Statement of Principles, giving their personal interpretation of what they read, and tying what they read to a personal experience. We learned a lot about each other, and about the Party, in the process. We intend to hold these orientation meetings at least twice a year, as they proved to be beneficial to those new to the Party, those interested in the Party, and those who have been longer-term members.
