The Socialist Party USA's Soltysik/Walker 2016 Presidential Campaign wrapped up 2015 with trips to Philadelphia, PA and Lancaster, PA. Folks from a bunch of different organizations, along with those new to radical politics, joined Presidential candidate Mimi Soltysik for a discussion about community, organizing, and how we might build working networks in 2016. Many expressed what was important to them, and each event was closed with an exchange of contact information.
 
 
On the one year anniversary of Leelah Alcorn' suicide Indy local chair Audrey Bee individually organized a political march both in remembrance of Leelah's death and to demand an end to society's brutal mistreatment of the transgender community.

All in attendance walked and chanted from the Indianapolis City Market to the Indiana State House to make their voices heard so that transphobia may someday come to an end.
 
 
As part of the Converging Storms Climate Action Network, members of the Socialist Party Los Angeles Local helped to organize the December 12th Building Blocks Against Climate Change action in Los Angeles. Participants, which in included members from both the Socialist Party USA's Los Angeles and Ventura locals, picked corners along the Wilshire corridor in Los Angeles, armed with climate change-related messages directed at Saturday foot and street traffic. The action coincided with the COP21 talks in Paris.
 
 
Socialist Party members took part in  a 
demonstration in Highland Park, NJ against Islamophobia and racism on Saturday December 12th. 

The demo was called by the Central Jersey Coalition Against Endless War and had 75-100 people altogether. 


 
 
On December 10th, members of the Socialist Party Los Angeles Local joined the Stop LAPD Spying Coalition in delivering a message to Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti: "the people of Los Angeles want a drone-free LAPD!" Participants convened at Mayor Garcetti's house, where community expressed feelings about police surveillance and abuse and where teatro performances were staged. The LAPD arrived with a sizable contingent, threatening arrest. In response, the Coalition went door-to-door in Mayor Garcetti's neighborhood, singing drone-free themed holiday carols.
 
 
NYC area Socialist Party members joined the "Human Rights TRUMP Oppression: Solidarity with Iraqi and Syrian Refugees" action at Columbus Circle in NYC on Thursday Dec, 10th. Members joined a sign/banner making event on Dec 8th and joined hundred at the Dec 10th action.
 
 
Members of the Northern NJ Local cosponsored and hosted Michael McLean's presentation on US involvement at the 73 See Gallery in Montclair NJ on Thursday Dec 3rd. 

A great presentation and a great opportunity to discuss US foreign policy and our connection to some of the history's worst human rights violations.
